We have already concerned researches of Southern Africa in connection with made with Livingstone in 1849 expedition to lake Ngami. Its subsequent travel to the Central Africa, the romanticist and novelty of travel to this area have deprived lake of that attractiveness which it had in the middle of XIX century In 1850 F.Gelton and K.Dzh. The Anderson have made attempt to reach it from the Whale bay, but they managed to get only nearby for the Etosha-sir. Gelton has returned to England, the Anderson continued to go to Ngami, has reached it and has passed on 100 km to the north from it (1853). In 1857 the Khan and Green have passed on a line approximately parallel to route Geltona, but to cross the country Ovambo it it was not possible. Two years later the Anderson has reached the rivers Okovango, approximately under 17°ЗГ ju. sh. And 19 ° century d., also investigated it on an extent about 150 km. It has accepted it for inflow of Zambezi.
From the south the merchant and hunter Dzh has got into this area. CHepmen, between 1849 and 1855 repeatedly crossing east of the country bechuanov in different directions, and in 1861-Bejns and CHepmen.
During same time small successes have been reached and at east coast where Gassiot has passed from Durban to an upper course '
