you are: Central afrika
The second phase of research work Stenli has begun on June, 11th, 1876 with its swimming on lake Tanganyika. By the end of July it has resolved the problem set to. As he speaks:
' on [July, 28th] we have floated along lowland bordering the western mountain and have by noon arrived to small bay Masani, near to the river Rubumba or Luvumba where in 1871 Livingstone and I have finished our teamwork on research of northern coast of lake of Tanganyika. So, in 1871 I have gone round all lake, have made swimming on lake from Udzhidzhi along east coast, further along northern end, then downwards along the western coast to the river Rubumba, now, in June-July, 1876 I have sailed from Udzhidzhi along east coast to an extreme southern extremity of lake, came into all gulfs of southern coast, have then gone along the western coast to the Pantsa-point in Ubvari, further along coast of a gulf of Burton and to the river Rubumby. Livingstone has defined, that extreme northern extremity of lake lays under 3°18! ju. sh., I have found, that the extreme southern point lays under 8°47!, that the lake extent in 329 geographical miles gives. At width it has from 10 to 45 miles at average width in 28 miles, and its area is equal 9240 sq. miles '.
