Africa. Conquest alzhirii
you are: Africa
Till the end of the first period of research of Africa in the field of Niger after that it was undertaken already very little. Sent to 1832 to Niger expedition did not manage to reach to Rabby though one of its participants has risen on short distance upwards across Benue. Travel of brothers Lender was more successful enterprise next year, but also they though have reached to Rabby, could not promote further. Instead the group has risen upwards across Benue approximately on 150 km. In 1832 Fernando Po in Kalabar left Kolterst and has risen on the river Kalabar to area Zbo where has been compelled to stop; and on it all researches here fade till 1840 when Bikroftu it was possible to rise across Niger to point in 50 km more low Bussy. Next year the big effort to establish commercial relations with an internal part of the country has been made, but it has come to an end full breakdown.
In the meantime, large events occurred in the north. In 1830 Frenchmen have started conquest Alzhirii. For 1839 1843 they managed to win bblynuju part Tellja and a high plateau. In 1843-1847 war was transferred to Morocco, and in 1848 Algeria has been attached to France. Thus, to the European influence very big country has opened, there was a new field for geographical researches and simultaneously new base, whence it was possible to conduct research of Sahara. The European scientists have got access to the country; studying of geography of Africa has received the big push forward. From the environment of the first scientists who have gone to Algeria should be named: the large archeologist and ethnographer Berbrugger who arrived in Alzhiriju in 1835 and has died after long service there in Algeria in 1869; Pjukler-Muskau, travelling both across Tunis, and across Algeria; the geologist and anthropologist Wagner (1836-1838), Bradshou (1845 1847) And And. V.Muller who, besides the big travel to New Light, has visited also Morocco. Englishman Davidson, trying to cross Western Sahara from Tangiers, has paid for it with a life (1836).
We need to mention two more travel which, finally, have appeared closely connected with research of Northwest Africa. In 1844-1845 Bart has passed on edge of desert from Tunis to Egypt, and in 1845 Richardson has reached from Tripoli in Murzuk. Shortly both of them had to take part together in one of the largest research enterprises in all history of studying of Africa.
