In 1875 to Nyasaland there have arrived missionaries and undertook country research, and to the aid it consuls Elton and have come About! Nile, and also the employee ' the companies of the African lakes ' engineer Stewart. Last has found out this, that the lake Njasa lasts much further on the north, than it was supposed, and investigated also a ridge of Livingstone. He has died during overland travel to Zanzibar. Its successor About! Nile during the overland campaigns has given much for area knowledge between lake Njasa and coast.
In the meantime Stewart has done the big work on specification of a card of the lake; it has defined co-ordinates of some points, has continued Thomson's work in the north and has finished research of east coast of lake (1882). To all it should add imperceptible, but extremely useful work of missionaries. This period comes to an end with opening in 1889 D.Dzh. Rankinym the important fact of navigability of the river Chinde. That fact, that in this sleeve of a mouth of Zambezi ' a bar is less, more safely and easier, than in all other sleeves of a mouth of Zambezi ', has got the greatest political value for development of an internal part of the country.
