Actually geographical researches in Mexico and Central America in XIX century it was made a little, but for the best acquaintance to these areas of America have much given researches of scientists in other adjacent areas of a science, in particular in archeology and geology.
In the beginning of century Mexico has been insufficiently studied. The big material laid hidden in cases and archives of official bodies; the government adhered to a policy of isolation and did not suppose paevoju territory of scientific researchers therefore visiting of these areas by Humboldt at the beginning of the century has accepted character almost secondary opening of this part of America. Humboldt and its companion Bonplan have landed in Akapulko at the western coast in January, 1803 and have proceeded in the city of the Mexico City which have become by headquarters of their scientific work. From here they have made a number of sorties in Guanahuato in the north, in Horulo in the west and to Jalapa on east edge of a plateau. In the beginning of 1804 both of them have sailed from port Belief-krus in a way back. Though they have crossed only short pieces of the country, their researches have captured much wider strips, than at usual routeing researches, and they have managed to collect the big and valuable material across all Mexico as a whole. At issue ' the Political sketch of kingdom of New Spain ' Humboldt was the newest and most advanced description of the oldest Spanish colony.
