After a long delay the English government has established the protectorate over Uganda (1894), but actual conquest of the country has demanded as early as several years. Among officers to whom conquest of Uganda and area of the top Nile was entrusted, was Sejmur Vandeler, made valuable shootings in area to the east and the north from Albert's lake and between lakes Victoria and Great Grabenom. These shootings made in 1894-1896 have created reliable enough basis for detailed mapping of Uganda. It is necessary to mention still work of group of McDonald (1896-1897), the lake Kioga which have corrected geographical co-ordinate which plotted its contour and have made shooting of extensive territory to the north from lake Victoria, and also the Hobart which has made shooting of separate areas of southwest Uganda in 1897-1898
In the meantime border shooting between Kenya and Tanganyika has been made. Work on its first site, from coast to a point to the southeast from Kilimandzharo, has been finished in 1892; other part, from Kilimandzharo to lake Victoria, has been photographed in 1905 by colonel Dzh. E.Smith, and similar work on a border piece to the West from lake Victoria has been done between 1902 and 1904 Among other detailed researches of this sort for the same period it is necessary to mention shootings Deklja to the West from lake Victoria, between the Top Kagera and lake (1900), the demarcation works finished in 1908 on border between Uganda and Congo and Archer's researches in Northern Kenya and to the southwest from Rudolf's lake.
