The migration which has begun in 1833 of drills and the basis ' Associations of cape of Kind Hope on research of the Central Africa ' have marked itself a turning point in research history as both these events not only have led to expansion of a zone of the European influence, but also have provided until then lacking system in research business. In 1834 Smith has reached a southern tropic and investigated the top valley of Limpopo; in two years Harris (later taken part in research of Ethiopia) has visited the country bechuanov, and in 1836-1837 Alexander during overland travel from Cape Town in the Whale bay has crossed the tribe country namakva. In the meantime other travellers specified details of geography of the country which general contours already with sufficient clearness were defined. Among these last it is necessary to mention Kaui and Green, made in 1829 travel to Natal, and Valberga, investigating in 1841-1844 the territory stretched to the north from Natal to Limpopo.
Just to this period to Southern Africa also there has arrived Livingstone. In 1841 it has left gulf Algoa to take part in activity of missionaries among bechuanov. Almost at once it has started travel of research character though during this period they were conducted is unique to capture on purpose probably big zone missionary propagation. Its work has been closely connected with travel of its father-in-law Moffata, more close, than all other missionaries, familiarised with suburb of Kalahari desert. This preliminary work has served Livingstone as good school for its subsequent large research travel which begun in 1849 and have enticed it in pool of Zambezi.
