In 1850 Livingstone and Osuell again have visited lake Ngami, and in 1851, during travel to northern direction, have made the second valuable opening-upper courses of the river of Zambezi. ' It was, - according to Livingstone,-was extremely important as before nobody assumed, that Zambezi proceeds here. According to the Portuguese cards, it originated much further to the east from that place where we were and if between 12 and 18 ° ju. sh. Actually there was a chain of trading posts this mighty piece of Zambezi could become known earlier '.
Livingstone has returned to the spiritual mission and there has found out, that touches of drills have caused the big damage to its work. Therefore it has left to Cape Town, whence has sent the family to England, and itself before acting in new expedition on the north, was engaged in studying of elementary astronomy. The major period of its activity also begins with the second trip of Livingstone to Zambezi in 1853 as researcher.
Livingstone has risen upwards on the main source of Zambezi - Liambaju, has passed a land in a river basin of Congo and left to Loande at the western coast of Africa. After short rest it has returned on the river Zambezi, has opened Victoria falls and, in general following a watercourse, in May, 1856 left on east coast of the African continent at Kilimani. It managed to collect some general data about lake Njasa. Opening of absolutely unknown area of Africa was result of travel, Livingstone wrote, that he ' can congratulate itself(himself) only in that measure in what reference prospects in Christianity of natives have increased. I consider, he-spoke,-that the purpose of geographical opening is maintenance of success of missionary work '.
