Having collected the big new material about Venezuela, Humboldt has gone to Cuba, whence has returned soon to the South America, has risen on the river Magdalena and, having passed mountains, left in Kito. It investigated the Andes up to northern Peru and has visited upper courses of Amazon. From Trujillo Humboldt has sailed to Lima where has lived four months. In January, 1803 he has left coast of the South America and on August, 3rd, 1804 has landed in Bordeaux.
Second half of travel of Humboldt has given it a material for construction difficult, though also the wrong theory of the South American Cordilleras-Andes.
' They, - Humboldt wrote, - are the long, continuous and monotonous in the direction from the south on the north and the North northwest a mountain chain on globe. From northern and southern poles they are separated by unequal distances-twenty of two degrees in one case and thirty three in other...
