Sahara after 1839 g. Expedition furo-lami
you are: Sahara after 1839
Actually, this expedition Furo-Lami (1898-1900) Also has caused conquest of Sahara. Travellers have acted from Biskra almost directly on the south and have passed through Ain-Taiba, Temassinin, Agades to Sindera, whence have gone further to lake Chad where have met with arrived there: from Niger-Mejne and from Congo-Zhantilem. Travel has demanded huge physical endurance and has yielded the most valuable scientific results. Furo made geographical, geological and biological supervision, and though he has considered their too sketchy to make on their basis any wide generalisations, all of them have laid down in a basis of all modern studying of territory between Alzhiriej and lake Chad. Furo has moved further across the African continent and left to a mouth of Congo, whence has returned back. The further studying of Sahara partly followed military captures, partly anticipated them. Anyhow, since 1900, it went not stopping. We can allocate here some the most outstanding achievements of those numerous French officers to which works we are obliged to modern level of our knowledge of the western part of desert.
