Though it is probable, that someone could see coast of Alaska and earlier, its present opening has occurred in 1741 when Bering and CHirikov have made the swimming across northern part of Pacific ocean. Much researchers of different other nationalities, during expeditions not setting as to themselves have made the special purpose for acquaintance with geography of coast in the end of XVIII century research of Alaska. To their number should be carried Kuadra and Cook, Malaspina both Vancouver. And Cook, and Vancouver promoted improvement of sea charts much, and the first has begun a new era in business of research of coast of Alaska.
The Big activity in XIX century was shown by the Russian naval officers investigating with 1826 till (approximately) 1850 many parts of coast. Having begun with gulfs Bristol and Nortonova, in 1827 of shooting some more years on southern coast were threw later on northern, and. In particular a mention captain M.D.Tebenkov, not only for its work on Alaska, on and for the atlas of sea charts of northwest coast of America, from the Bottom California to Bering strait thereupon deserves; the atlas, on a response of the Brooks, is ' the major contribution to geography of Alaska for all time of Russian sovereignty '.
